Implant 2.8 mm in diameter indicated for reduction and fixation of metaphyseal fractures, temporary intraoperative fixation and reduction of fragments and stable, load-bearing fracture fixation. Implant steel 1.4441, chemically passive and non-magnetic on the surface.
In low-density bone the problem is not the wire bending, it is that it finds nothing to grip. Thickness alone is not enough there: what holds is the threaded section biting into cancellous bone. At 2.8 millimetres that thread has enough surface to do it in bone that has already lost trabeculae. Three lengths, from 150 to 310.
Supplied non-sterile, so the hospital can process it in its own autoclave cycle along with the rest of the instrument set. It is a single-use device: it is not reprocessed once implanted.
