Implant 0.8 mm in diameter with a trocar point and round end, indicated for reduction and fixation of metaphyseal fractures, diaphyseal fractures and dislocations of the bones of the hand and foot and temporary intraoperative fixation and reduction of fragments. Implant steel 1.4441, chemically passive and non-magnetic on the surface.
Half a metre of length at eight tenths of diameter is a ratio of six hundred to one. It is not a general-purpose size: it exists to reach a long way through a path that will take nothing thicker, and the trocar point is what holds the line over a run like that.
Supplied non-sterile, so the hospital can process it in its own autoclave cycle along with the rest of the instrument set. It is a single-use device: it is not reprocessed once implanted.
