Bone fixation implant 150 mm long and 1 mm in diameter, indicated for diaphyseal fractures and dislocations of the bones of the hand and foot, temporary arthrodesis of small joints and temporary intraoperative fixation and reduction of fragments. Implant steel 1.4441, chemically passive and non-magnetic on the surface.
One millimetre is the gauge used when the bone being fixed is smaller than the implant crossing it: phalanx, metacarpal, bones of the foot. Going thicker here does not add stability, it takes away bone. The 150 mm shaft leaves room to enter obliquely and trim outside, rather than forcing the entry path.
Supplied non-sterile, so the hospital can process it in its own autoclave cycle along with the rest of the instrument set. It is a single-use device: it is not reprocessed once implanted.
